Light and not really bothersome reduction is in any event not sufficient to hide the sublimely elegant aromas of white flower, citrus and wet stone. This refined introduction is followed by stony and beautifully precise flavors that possess a positively gorgeous mouth feel before terminating in a driving, citrusy and presently compact finish that delivers superb persistence. This is still very much of a baby and given that it's blessed with both an abundance of dry extract and impeccable balance should augur for an excellent future. - BH

The least expressive on the nose at the moment. Great weight and precision and really absolutely of Grand Cru status. Just so brilliant, but you have to wait! 18.5/20 points. - JR

There were no reservations about the stellar white. The 2009 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru from Domaine Jean-François Coche-Dury is riveting from start to finish. Laser-like precision on the killer nose, it threatens to overwhelm the olfactory senses. Struck flint, citrus peel and linden, it gains intensity with aeration without ever losing an ounce of its breath-taking delineation. The palate followed suit with ethereal balance, perfect acidity, astonishing energy and a mineral-rich finish that leaves you lost for words. After 13-years, this Meursault is at its peak, though I cannot foresee any decline in the near future. Such is the magic of Coche-Dury. - VM

Surpassing even Coche's Corton-Charlemagne in this vintage, the 2009 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières unfurls in the glass with a lovely bouquet of Anjou pear, green pineapple, white flowers, hazelnut and citrus oil. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's textural and enveloping, but underpinned by the most tensile acid structure of any of Coche's 2009s, concluding with a long and chalky finish. - WA
